About Terravita
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
My love of the clay and all its forms and states has fuelled a lifelong passion for ceramics. It began over 40 years ago when I read Bernard Leach’s ‘A Potter’s Book’. This record of the Sung dynasty ceramic techniques became the manual for the modern British craft pottery movement. Their understanding of form and decoration has always inspired my work and I hope it gives you as much joy as it does to me.

The Potters Story
I started experiencing with earthen-ware clays and with a secondhand kiln when I was 14 year old..
For a summer project inspired by the potter book. I went back to the routs of the potter and dug my clay out of the local brook. Processed it and throw some vases. Dried the split a batch of logs and built a kiln around the vases in the garden with earth to insulate the walls and spent a day and night firing the kiln.. up to approx. 1000 degree. A life affirming experience and has give me a passion for the craft ever since.
Over the past few years, I have endeavored to make my studio as a commercial.
